FURTHER ARTIST INFO:

***Denise Johnson (& Band)***
(from The Guardian): A new voice in Manchester in the late 1980s, Denise Johnson quickly became recognisable across many indie and dance tracks. This came after a brief but impressive apprenticeship: asked to sing lead for a group supporting US funk band Maze, she played Wembley only weeks after starting out. She sings gloriously on Primal Screams Dont Fight It Feel It from their 1991 classic Screamadelica, and on several tracks from their 1994 follow-up, Give Up But Dont Give Out. Also a regular performer with Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumners Electronic, she still tours today with Manchester post-punk legends A Certain Ratio. This show arrives as Denise releases her debut single: Im Not in Love  an acoustic, vocal heartfelt version of a classic..

***Daljit Nagra ***
(From Faber) was born and raised in West London, then Sheffield. He currently lives in Harrow with his wife and daughters. In 2004 his poem 'Look We Have Coming to Dover!' won the Forward Prize for Best Individual Poem, and his first collection of the same name won the 2007 Forward Prize for Best First Collection, was shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and won the 2008 South Bank Show/Arts Council Decibel Award. Tippoo Sultan's Incredible White-Man-Eating Tiger Toy-Machine!!! (2011) and the Ramayana (2013) were both shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize. He teaches at Brunel University London and is currently Poet in Residence at BBC Radio 4 and 4 Extra.

***Rituals ***
(From Music Glue): Chasing the night up and down the gothic alleyways and around the stately squares of Edinburgh, four-man'RITULS' find their musical heart beating to a disconcerting pattern that isnt altogether unfamiliar. Formed from the most talented offcuts of defunct bands earlier in 2016, the only chapter in RITULS' short story begins with an almost immediate meeting The Corals James Skelly after travelling to perform in Liverpool. Rushed into Parr Street Studios to work with Skelly and co-producer, Richard Turvey (The Coral, She Drew The Gun), their conspicuously theatrical sound is preserved in their first release, with more set to follow. In their previous incarnations RITULS have been invited to tour with Paul Weller and Temples and have had tracks produced by Bill Ryder-Jones and Richard Hawley. Their recent track Redeemer received some solid BBC Radio1 and 6Music airplay. The band consists of: Ryan Sandison - Piano/Lead Vocals; Craig Somerville  Drums; Craig McMullen  Guitar; Lee Brown - Bass

***Rob A MacKenzie***
Rob A. Mackenzie was born in Glasgow. He studied law and then switched to theology. He spent a year in Seoul, eight years in Lanarkshire, five years in Turin, and now lives in Leith. He is reviews editor of Magma poetry magazine and co-runs the live Edinburgh poetry night 'Vespers'. His pamphlet, The Clown of Natural Sorrow, was published by HappenStance Press in 2005, followed by a collection, The Opposite of Cabbage (Salt, 2009). A pamphlet, Fleck and the Bank, was published in 2012 and a second full collection, The Good News, in 2013, both by Salt.
