This landmark film, directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick, satirizes the Cold War fears of a nuclear conflict. Fanatical U.S. general Jack D. Ripper unilaterally launches a nuclear attack on Russia during the Cold War; the President (Peter Sellers) and his advisors Nazi scientist Dr. Strangelove (Peter Sellers) and General Buck Turgidson (Geroge C. Scott) endeavor to recall the bombers to prevent nuclear holocaust. The screenplay was loosely based on Peter Georges novel Red Alert.
