WILDE TALES
Come through the garden gate to a world where swallows, statues, and fireworks speak with all the wit of Oscar Wilde. Five stories of love and loss from Wilde's collection of stories for young people, The Happy Prince and Other Tales, are woven together with Wilde's later verse in this innovative theatrical vision. A statue and his friend test the limits of generosity; a nightingale sacrifices everything for the sake of true love; a giant builds a wall to keep children out of his garden; a family of ducks try to teach a water rat about compassion, and a self-important firework finds his purpose. Wilde's lush, bittersweet fables have long spellbound readers of all ages-- Now, masterfully planted onstage by Jeremy Bloom, these wild tales grow into a joyful evening for all.
