We Do Good Presents... Film screening of True Romance plus disco (Anti-Valentine's Day)
True Romance (dir Tony Scott, 1993) is more of a drug deal and violence type of film than its name suggests. We thought it was the perfect film to show on the Saturday after Valentine's Day as an antidote to the more kissy kissy old-fashioned type of rom-com.
With its amazing cast (Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman etc) and written by Quentin Tarantino, True Romance has achieved cult status - if you have not seen it before, steel yourself for something original, and if you have, we are certain, like us, you will want to see it again 25 years later.
We are screening the film at the romantic Brookmill pub in Deptford on Saturday 17th February, and then afterwards we will get the party started and play 80's and 90's pop tunes to serenade each other with.
If you like you can compete for the best dressed prizes and dress up as something truly romantic, or a character from the film, or something retro, or just come as you are.
Doors open at 7.30pm, film starts at 8.00 prompt. Come early for a good seat and bring your own cushion if you are all about comfort. If you want to eat, please eat in the pub downstairs first.
Everyone gets a limited edition badge - the first to arrive get to choose first, so you know what to do!
After the film, we bring you the best pop tunes of the 80's and 90's. We love to transcend genres and play a little something for everyone, even a few slowies at the end. Get up and get down on the dancefloor, or just sit and immerse yourself in nostalgia while you drink in the Brookmill's lovely function room.
There are only limited tickets available due to the size of the room so, if you are coming, book your ticket today. If there are tickets left on the day, they will be available on the door (tickets OTD will cost £12).
