Wishes & Dreams": A Disney-Inspired Cabaret
Acting Up Productions (AUP) will present their third Cabaret of the season Wishes & Dreams: A Disney Cabaret February 15-24, 2013 at downtown Greenfield's Creative Arts and Event Center.
In 1940, the now iconic "When you Wish Upon a Star" won an academy award for best original song. Since that time, the Walt Disney company and "The Mouse" have influenced the music scene through animated movies, live-action film, television, radio and the Broadway stage. Now, 73 years later, AUP's latest cabaret celebrates the songs of Disney with an original story about four princesses, a prince who believes he is a servant, an evil and unusually tall elf, and a lost genie. The story is told interwoven with popular Disney songs, including medleys from Disney Broadway shows Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.
Making their AUP stage debuts are Tristan Ross and Maria Meschi. Meschi was most recently seen in Meschi was most recently seen in EclecticPond Theatre Company's 10x10: Brevity is the Soul of Wit and Q Artistry's BOT. Ross, a playwright and Indianapolis actor, is making his stage debut for AUP but previously designed sound for AUP's Our Town. Returning to the AUP stage are Arianne Villareal (Nevermore), Michelle Wafford (Our Town), Liz Porter (Sondheim: Cocktails & Cabaret), and Chris Meek (Sondheim: Cocktails & Cabaret).
The Wishes & Dreams story (for ages 5-105) is written by R. Brian Noffke & Elizabeth Williams and directed by Noffke with Williams as stage manager. Michele Ray will design costumes. The cabaret will be held in Bradley Hall, on the 3rd floor of the Creative Arts and Event Center. The building is handicap accessible. Come dressed as your favorite Disney Character/Princess and help us celebrate the songs of Disney. The cast will be available after each show for photo opportunities. Songs include selections from: Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and many more.
Wishes & Dreams will be presented February 15-24, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include special intermission refreshments. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Reservations are recommended. Walk-ins are welcome but limited.
