Isaac Babel and the Black Sea
Stella Adler Los Angeles Lab Theatre presents a Timothy McNeil original play "Isaac Babel and the Black Sea". The great Soviet-era writer Isaac Babel's love, passion and conflicts are brought to the stage; a meditation on creativity and artistic responsibility in Stalin's Russia. Isaac Babel And The Black Sea is an imaginative look at the life, the loves, and the mystery of the great Soviet-era writer Isaac Babel. Babel's life spanned the birth of the Soviet Union through the Stalin era, and Timothy McNeil's new play delves into the mystery of this remarkable writer, as he comes of age and attempts to survive in the Age of Stalin.
More about the Lab Theatre:
Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre Los Angeles has formed a new professional theatre company called the Stella Adler Los Angeles Lab Theatre. The theatre company is comprised of Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre Los Angeles alumni.
The Lab Theatre is the fruition of the training. But more than that, it is a coming together of Stella Adlers twenty-five years of West Coast history. For Stella, it has always been about the work of acting in great plays, said Stella Adler Los Angeles Lab Theatre Artistic Director John Jack Rodgers. With the Stella Adler Los Angeles Theatre Collective members, we wanted to also give an opportunity for our advanced students to be able to work with the company. Together we hope to bring theatre to life in the heart of Hollywood by working on plays of importance through actors, writers and directors who value, honor and continue the lineage that reaches to the next generation of actors currently studying at Stella Adler Los Angeles.
