Rockland Farm Alliance's Junior Farmers Summer Camp introduces children to sustainable agriculture, healthy living and environmental stewardship through discovery, play and plenty of time getting their hands dirty working on the farm. Our expert staff of farmers and educators, led by Education Director Sarah Bartges and Early Childhood Educator Kathy Rauth, will lead children through farming workshops, science experiments, planting and harvesting, crop sampling, bug hunts, beekeeping workshops, raw cooking activities, nature walks, arts and crafts, and highly interactive organic agriculture education.

At the end of the week, each junior farmer takes home their field journal, recipes, unique farming knowledge and a new perspective on where food comes from and how it gets to our tables. Campers will also be hosting their very own farmstead on Friday to share with their families the culmination of all their hard work.

Program Levels
Students Entering Grades K-2:  This program introduces children to science and develops their connection with the natural world. Through exploration of new plants, imaginative games, crafts and workshops, and multi-sensory discovery on the farm, students will understand the important role that local farms play in our lives.

Students Entering Grades 3-5:  This program deepens students understanding of relationships and patterns within our ecosystem. Through scientific workshops, observations on and around the farm, foraging walks, study of wildlife working in harmony with the farm, and plenty of arts, crafts and field games, children will end their session with a strong connection to nature and local agriculture.

Meals
The farm provides 2 healthy snacks per day. These snacks will combine produce harvested from the farm along with staples such as fruit, pretzels, rice crackers, tortilla chips, etc.

On Fridays, there will be a special sweet treat at the end of the day!

Students are asked to bring a bagged lunch with them each day.

We can accommodate any food restrictions, please include details on the health form or contact sarah@rocklandfarm.org with any concerns.
