January 26, 2017 Evolation Yoga
476 Rhode Island St, Buffalo, NY 14213
This performance is part of the Mission Improvable Intensive. Guest artist from NYC, Tim O'Donnell will be co-creating a piece in two days with Mission Improvable dancers.
Choreography will also be presented by Stephanie Beauchamp, Jacky Zee, Lindsay Daniels and Sophia Roberts.
Artist Bios Tim ODonnell is a New York based dance artist who has been studying, teaching, and performing in both the United States and Europe. His exploration in dance and movement is strongly rooted in a deep physical listening and a sense of adventure. His classes range from the gentle and subtle to the acrobatic and fluidly athletic.
Tim holds an MFA in Dance and has maintained a private practice in therapeutic bodywork and somatic movement since 1991. Currently he is on faculty at Movement Research and Arizona State University.
Organizer Nancy Hughes, artistic director and founder of Center Dance, though originally from Texas, has been living in Buffalo for six years. Hughes is an educator, performer, choreographer and event organizer who co-facilitates regular events for contact improvisation and contemporary dancers. Hughes has been awarded grants from NYS DanceForce, Northampton Arts Council and Key Bank and has received sponsorship from Harold Grinspoon. Nancy Hughes produces dance events throughout the year. This includes the Tuesday Contemporary Dance Series, Buffalo Sunday Contact Improv Jam, Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts Youth Performance Workshop, Mission Improvable, and is currently working on a new guest artist series. Her work as a performer and choreographer has been performed across the U.S. as well as in Paris, France and Toronto, Canada. She can be seen performing in Buffalo with BCIJPG, Anne Burnidge Dance and others in theaters, museums, galleries, peoples homes and silos.
Center Dance is an emergence focusing upon movement, wellness, and education. Through interdisciplinary performance, movement training, community outreach and the presentation of learning opportunities Center Dance strives to increase Buffalos gravity as an international hub for creative exchange between dance artists.
Monica Karwan is making many things happen as a volunteer and organizer for the event. Laudible in countless very-important dimensions, I don't have an official bio for her, but here's something to fill in that space in the meantime.
