Italians in Paris
Musica Antica Rotherhithe chart the transmission of opera to France in the mid-17th Century, with extracts from Luigi Rossis Orfeo and Francesco Cavallis Ercole Amante, followed by ballets from the crowning achievement of Jean-Baptiste Lully and Molieres collaboration: Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. The concert features soprano, tenor and bass voices as well as a band of baroque flutes, violin, baroque guitar, theorbo, gamba and harpsichord. Concert starts at 7pm at Holy Trinity Church in Rotherhithe, and will run approximately an hour and a half. As always, refreshments including home-infused gins and other gifts will be on sale to support Holy Trinity Rotherhithe Church.
