John Owens, Tenor, in concert
Join the Sausalito Song Society on January 21 at 3pm with a concert by Tenor, John Owens. John will be celebrating the genius of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, German poet, playwright, and novelist, considered the greatest German literary figure of the modern era. John will sing songs by such composers as Schubert, Beethoven, and Berlioz, with a special focus on the story of Faust and Wilhelm Meister. Come and enjoy an afternoon of drama and intrigue all wrapped up in beautiful music. John Owens has been performing in the Bay Area for over 25 years and most recently sang the role of Jack O'Brien in Kurt Weill's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny with the Redwood Symphony and Tony Foks Ask the Sky and Earth with the Golden Gate Symphony. John was a long-time member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus performing in over 70 productions at the War Memorial Opera House and has had the pleasure of singing with many local companies including City Concert Opera, where he performed the role of Tristan in Frank Martins Le Vin Herbe and Acis in Handel's Acis and Galatea. In the East Bay John has worked with Livermore Opera (Camille de Rosillon -The Merry Widow) and The Masquer's Playhouse (Rinuccio - Gianni Schicchi), Gastone in La Traviata for Peninsula's West Bay Opera, Mozart's Tito (La Clemenza di Tito), and Ferrando (Cosi Fan Tutti) with Voci Feroci. In another favorite Mozart role John had the pleasure of performing Tamino at the Diego Rivera Theater at San Francisco City College. John is thrilled to be joining the Sausalito Song Society in its inaugural season and share his passion for the art of song.
