March 6th Part Two - A Two Part Conversations About Food Hubs in South Carolina
Part Two of a Two Part Conversation About Food Hubs in South Carolina - Midlands Region
When: March 6th 9:00am - 12:30 pm (materials and breaks included)
Where: Central Midlands Council of Government, 236 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia SC 29210 in the big conference room. Save the date of March 6th 2018 and join us as we continue the conversation about South Carolina Food Hubs specific to the Midlands region. Part One of the event, March 5th, will be a statewide Food Hub conversation featuring food systems experts such as Jim Matson of Matson Consulting, Jim Barham agriculture economist with USDA Rural Development, and Gary Matteson of Farm Credit Council. These colleagues will be part of the discussion on March 6th as well.
The session will be for Midlands region attendees and will be a facilitated discussion about what may be useful for our local food system proponents, what infrastructure is currently in place and what is needed.
We hope to come out of this session with a path forward for the Midlands to create a local food system. Or, at minimum....some next steps.
Presented by Midlands Food Alliance, SC Farm to Institution, Clemson University, South Carolina Department of Agriculture, and Midlands Local Food Collaborative
