Cinematic VR Challenge #6: Ready Player One
Come create a virtual reality experience with us! Come alone or with friends. We welcome all current and future directors, choreographers, actors, programmers, artists, musicians, sound designers, students, and people just trying to have fun.
Team Creation:
People will float their ideas in front of the room. People will then choose which project they want to be a part of. You are encouraged to bring your own equipment, cameras and computers, and we will have that equipment available, as well.
If you're new to VR, don't feel intimidated! None of us has harnessed the full potential of this medium yet and we want to collectively share ideas/experiences. Come with your ideas, your skills, your hard work and enthusiasm. This event is as much about meeting new friends as it is about creating something awesome together!
Our theme this time is Overcoming Obstacles Using VR; this is merely a suggestion and food for thought, not a requirement. It is tied into the over-arching theme of the book, Ready Player One, the inspiration for this 6th edition of SIXR's CVRC's,and the fortuitous timing of our event a week before the movie is released.
Friday:
6:00 pm Meet and greet - sponsor introductions
6:45-7:15 pm Production Guidelines and Checklist a Digital Content Production Course by David F. Durand, Chief Mentor and Board Member of SIXR
8:00-8:30 PM: Skill share, project proposals and team formation
8:30 pm - 2:00 am Equipment sign-outs; COMMENCE CREATING!
Saturday:
7:00 am Off-site location shooting, on-site development and workshops available, including the field trip to MoCapNow (Must sign up separately, in advance, for the Motion Capture; details given upon registration to this event).
9-11:00 am "Intro to 360 Video editing with Adobe CC" by Adobe engineer, and VR Rockstar/Evangelist Dacia Saenz
6:00 pm Presentation: Journey from Cinema to VR
by David F. Durand, Chief Mentor, and Board Member of SIXR
6:30 pm: Catered Dinner Brought to you by AltSpaceVR
7:00-8:00 pm: AltSpace VR: CiCi Woo's Show "Chew On This" will interview us about this experience, for our virtual brethren.
8:00 pm - OPEN OVERNIGHT - Back to work

RE: Mocap Now Elective - If you are interested in utilizing motion capture for your project, you MUST pre-register with a form sent only to paid registrants of the CVRC#6, and attend a Pre-Event Best Practices Orientation on Tuesday, 3/20/18. This is NOT a separate event, and is only available to registered participants in the entire CVRC#6. The DEADLINE to register for CVRC#6 with Mocap Now elective is Monday, 3/19/2018 @ 5PM. Then you will receive the instructions on how to prepare for the orientation.
Our DEADLINE for ticket sales to the CVRC#6 without Mocap Now acccess, is Wednesday, 3/21/18 @ 5PM, so the PacSci Center has time to process the last minute background checks. Space is limited, so register today!

Rules of conduct:
- Treat shooting locations and event spaces with the utmost respect. We will be mostly on the second floor space of Building 4. There will be plenty of tables and chairs and special ethernet networking.
- Aside from personal challenges, we will all be moving, cleaning, and helping each other.
- Respect each other!!! (If someone is making you feel uncomfortable, reach out to an organizer. We care.)
- We strive to create a safe environment, and we will have security in place throughout the event. Also, in place during both our overnight closure from 2AM-7AM Saturday, so you will be fine to leave your workstations in place; then also during our special overnight open-all-night Saturday into Sunday, we will have dedicated guards to allow us in and out while the rest of the museum is closed.
FAQ:
Is the location open over night?
Only on Saturday night. We will be opening the event at 6PM Friday, open until 2AM Saturday, reopening at 7AM Saturday & then staying open til the end of the event Sunday.
Water: WE ASK THAT EVERYONE BRING THEIR OWN LABELED & REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE. There is a water bottle filling station right outside our venue. We will make sure to point it out to all. It is right between the restrooms.
Will there be food?
Friday night, No. Though you are free to bring some of your own munchies. Alternatively, there are many restaurants on-site. http://www.seattlecenter.com/food/. We encourage you to eat before you come on Friday; fortify yourself in advance, please!
Saturday night, Yes! We will be having a catered dinner thanks to our friends at AltSpaceVR. (Vegan options included).
Sunday AM: We are planning a breakfast of coffee, tea, juices, and pastries.
For the whole challenge, but especially during Saturdays Overnight Feel free to bring sleeping bags, should you wish. Also encouraged, inflatable mattresses and inflatable furniture, bean bag chairs, lap desks, anything to make you comfortable that is easily portable and movable.

Ownership:
Each team member of a project owns their own IP and collectively owns the final result of the project. They can then opt to license it to non project participants under a Creative Commons NC-SA-BY license, to empower others to share it with their friends, remix it, download it, whatever, as long as they're not making a commercial profit from your work.
