Marble City Opera presents:"Julie Belanger-Roy", in Concert
Marble City Opera continues its 2017-18 season with a special one night only concert event at LeGrand Music Studios located inside of the Fountain City Art Center (213 Hotel Rd, 37918). Join French-Canadian contralto, Julie Belanger-Roy for a night of beautiful singing as her and resident MCO accompanist Brandon Coffer present a delightful evening of song.
Julie began her musical studies early as a violinist and a violist. While studying viola at the Conservatory of Music in Montreal, Canada, she started taking voice lessons with the repeated mezzo-soprano Gabriele Lavigne. After completion of a Master's degree in viola performance, Ms. Belanger Roy, then a successful violist, started her Master's degree in vocal performance. Ms. Belanger Roy's last performances include the role of Benoit/Alcindoro in Marble City Opera's all-female cast of La Boheme, Dame Quickly in the Bay View Music Festival production of Verdi's Falstaff, as well as Bianca in the University of Tennessee production of Britten's The Rape of Lucretia. In 2014, she graduated with her Master's in vocal performance and attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She was recently awarded the Mozart prize at the Orpheus Vocal Competition 2015.
