ADIEU MONSIEUR HAFFMANN
Adieu Monsieur Haffmann, by Jean-Philippe Daguerre. Directed by Pascale Couderc, with Emmanuelle Lambert, Marion Lovinger, Thomas Marigné, Benoît Monin & David Valayre.
The German occupation of France during the Second World War forced many men and women to makes choices, and to reflect on their moral values and their conscience. Those are the choices Pierre Vigneau must make. First among Pierre's choices is whether he should give clandestine shelter to his boss, Joseph Haffman, a Jewish jeweler. In exchange for Pierre's protection, Joseph transfers ownership of his store to Pierre. Pierre, however, wants more: Being sterile, he asks Monsieur Haffmann to sleep with Isabelle, Pierre's wife, until she becomes pregnant. A "dramedy" about fear and courage.
Performed in French with English supertitles. Not recommended for children under 13.
