Martin Dimery - Shakespeare Rattle and Roll
Following rave reviews on tour, including a week at the Attic Theatre, Stratford upon Avon, and a sell-out performances at the Wells Festival of Literature and the Stanza International Festival in St. Andrews, Martin Dimery brings his hilarious solo Shakespeare revue back to Bath.
The show looks at Shakespeare's life and verse and, in particular, his many songs. Making the connection between Elizabethan songs and popular music of more recent times , Martin re-interprets the songs in the style of Elvis, Dylan, Sting, Buddy Holly, Bob Marley, and (returning to his more familiar "John Lennon" persona) The Beatles, amongst others. The revue is directed by Mike Walker.
Martin Dimery is the writer of three published plays and an autobiography "Being John Lennon", based on his life in Beatles' tribute Sgt. Pepper's Only Dart Board Band, an act which has played in festivals and theatres throughout the UK, Europe, and in the US, as well as world- wide TV and radio broadcasts. Martin is also Creative Director of the Frome Festival.
"Martin Dimery made Shakespeare far more fun than the audience had ever experienced. He showed his talents as a singer and impressionist as well as his day job as playwright and journalist." - Wells Journal
"Huge fun and much appreciated...entertaining, even educational evenings such as this, are missed by many. Their bad luck." - Listomania
