WHPK 88.5 FM Chicago Jazz Format | 8th Annual Black History Month Celebration
The WHPK Jazz Format presents the Charles Heath Septet for its Eighth Black History Month Celebration of Jazz, "Our Gift to the World," 7 p.m. Sat., Feb. 10, 2018, in International House, 1414 E. 59th St., Chicago, Ill. on the University of Chicago campus.
Drummer Charles "Rick" Heath IV leads an ensemble that includes Randle Watson, trumpet; Julius Tucker, piano; Nicholas Davis, bass; Lenard Simpson, saxophone; Royce Harrington-Turner, trombone; and Jacob Slocum, baritone saxophone.
The WHPK Jazz Format dedicates the event to Willie Pickens and John Wright, both recipients of the WHPK 88.5 FM REACH Award who passed away in 2017.
Doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are $25 for VIP seats; $10 for general admission; and $8 for Jazz Institute of Chicago members and students with ID.
