Believe It Or Not: A Physicist Looks At Religion -- Dick Jackson
Wednesday February 7, 2017 10am - 12pm
SLO Library Community Room
Is our predilection for religion an evolved trait? Do our brains have a God spot? What is the oldest religion? The youngest? The fastest growing? The answers may surprise you.
This class will address religion in an almost non-judgmental way, as well as describing several types of non-belief. After discussing its origins and historical development, several of the less well known religions will be described. For example: Wicca, Kemetism and Rastafari. Input from the audience will be encouraged.
Dick Jackson has more than one degree in physics but is interested in many subjects. Since everything obeys natural laws, he believe that all other fields of study, even theology, are branches of physics.
