Oye Group: One Catches Light Festival
Oye Group: ONE CATCHES LIGHT FESTIVAL January 19 27
Oye Group presents the third-annual One Catches Light Festival, celebrating new solo work of five performers. In this years installment, each artist addresses the topic of reparations in collaboration with JACKs year-long performance and conversation series Reparations365.
SHOWS:
Chelsea Dee Harrison channels international jewel thief Doris Payne in "The Guide to Getting What's Yours."
In "One of You Is Fake," Beth Graczyk takes an earnestly absurdist look at the future of mankind in a piece that is part science lecture, part song, and all physical movement epic.
In "BBC," A.B. Lugo explores the mystique behind what he calls that most dangerous yet heavily sought-after item: the BBC.
Kelvin Grullon brings to life an excerpt from Junot Diazs Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Adapted and directed by Elise Thoron. Courtesy of Literature to Life and Young Audiences NY."
Comedian/curator Neruda Williams delivers a night of laughs with "Addendum: Nigga, Please."
