Max presents "Give and Take - Consent for Your Kinky Play" with Katie Spataro
Within the context of BDSM, consent offers us the ability to explore and play in the realms of the shadow. But how does our individual understanding of what consent is, how it is played out or how it may shift or change within the context of a scene, enable or limit our access to exploring those realms within a safe-enough container?
How do we know when were on the same page as our partner and how do we minimize the potential for harm created through misunderstandings and assumptions? What is the responsibility of both the top and the bottom in the consent equation and what impacts our ability to remain within the boundaries of full consent at all times?
This workshop offers an opportunity to fine-tune your consent skills through an expanded exploration into the more radical and nuanced understandings around consent. Using Betty Martins Wheel of Consent as a framework, participants will have the opportunity to learn, practice, observe and integrate.
Through embodied practice, live BDSM demonstrations and discussion, participants will refine their understanding of consent by:
* Gaining a nuanced understanding of the nature of giving and receiving
* Differentiating between giving and doing
* Increasing ones ability to be in full heart while giving
* Increasing ones ability to fully receive, recognizing what brings us out of a place of receiving and how to get back there
* Decreasing the risk of consent injuries and providing a common language for communicating consent within the context of kinky play
As with all of Max's workshops, a handout will be provided to facilitate your learning and retention.
This workshop assumes no previous BDSM experience and is appropriate for all genders, all orientations, and for both tops and bottoms.

Max has been active in Seattle's kink community since 1992 and has been teaching bondage, BDSM, and polyamory workshops since 1999.
