AUSTIN and BARBARA, the characters in "We Don't Remember Christmas", are friends who have gone through many stages of life together. They meet periodically to fill one another in on their lives, reminisce, and work out problems. Through stories and songs, they address the joys and problems of the upcoming holiday season, as well as remembering other such seasons that they've been through.
BIOS: AUSTIN PENDLETON is an actor, director, playwright and teacher of acting. He has appeared frequently on, off and off-off Broadway. (His first Broadway appearance was as Motel the Tailor in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Jerome Robbins, and starring Zero Mostel.) He can be seen in approximately 200 films. He has appeared regularly on TV on such shows as Oz, Homicide, Law and Order and Billions. In New York, he has directed, in recent years, BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY and four shows at CSC (UNCLE VANYA, THREE SISTERS, IVANOV and HAMLET) featuring such players as Peter Sarsgaard (Hamlet), Maggie Gyllenhall, and Ethan Hawke. He has written three plays (ORSON'S SHADOW, UNCLE BOB, BOOTH) all published in New York, and, in the case of Uncle Bob and Orson's Shadow, internationally. He has most recently directed A DAY AT THE BEACH for the Mint Theatre Company, and A TASTE OF HONEY for the Pearl Theatre. He teaches acting in New York at HB Studio, where he studied with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof. He also studied acting with Robert Lewis.
BARBARA BLEIER is a singer, actor and playwright who has appeared in solo shows and revues in national and international cabaret, as well as appearing on stage, in film, and on TV. The mother of a psychopathic killer in the cult classic, SWOON, she appeared most recently in THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, with Jane Fonda and Tina Fey, and in THEY CAME TOGETHER, with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. She just completed a cabaret engagement in Los Angeles, at the Gardenia. Her solo show, WHO'S YOUR MAMA? was selected for production in the NYC Women at Work Festival, and her two-person revue with Austin Pendleton received critical praise in New York and Chicago. She has studied acting with Austin Pendleton, singing with Barbara Maier, and musical performance with Julie Wilson at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center. Both Austin and Barbara are delighted to be returning to Pangea.
REVIEWS: Andrew Patner in the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: "A critic could spend a lifetime trying to identify the "it" that makes a great show or a great performer, but in the world of cabaret, intelligence, subtlety and sincerity might get you close to an answer. And when two would work together, another intangible-chemistry-comes into play...One of the most winning shows in many a moon. In just 50 minutes, these wonderful performers take their audience on a journey through love and relationships that is hilarious and dark, emotional and unflinching...some of the most ingenious musical selections and pairings heard in a long time...not the Pablum of Top 40 or the bromides of piano bars, but real songs about the real mistakes that real people make...Who better to take on the imperfections of mature love than this lovely, mature and imperfect pair?"
J.K. Clarke in THEATER PIZZAZZ: (Pendleton) doesnt merely perform a song, he experiences it. As does Bleier.

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
