Join us! for a tour of South Bay urban agriculture and social/environmental collaborations happening right in our backyard! We'll visit inspiring sites, plant trees and gather for a healthy vegan lunch while we get to know each other and hear moving stories about great projects. Together we'll learn more about how we can support community resilience, both in our daily lives and through these projects!

~10:30AM to 12:00PM: JACOB'S FARM Martial Cottle Park 5283 Snell Ave San Jose, CA 95136 http://www.jacobsfarmcalifornia.com/ Visit Jacobs Farm in San Jose and plant trees with Our City Forest (http://www.ourcityforest.org/) at Martial Cottle Park. Jacob's Farm is Santa Clara County's newest urban park and working farm. Producing flavorful, local, organic crops, it is a showcase for the latest in sustainable farming techniques and water conservation. There we will meet with representatives from Our City Forest whose mission is to cultivate a green and healthy Silicon Valley by engaging community members in the appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest. They will lead us in a tree planting activity!
~12:15PM to 1:45PM: LUNCH Eat a healthy vegan lunch at a soon to be announced location and listen to empowering speakers tell their stories, including: - Girish Shah (Compassionate Silicon Valley) - Trathen Heckman (Daily Acts) - Kris Jensen (Phoenix Gardens) - Sallie Calhoun (Threshold) - Raul Lozano (Valley Verde) - Karen Koppett (Santa Clara Water District)
~2:00PM to 3:30PM: VEGGIELUTION 647 King Rd San Jose, CA 95116 http://veggielution.org/our-farm/ Learn about food justice at Veggielution, a 6-acre farm in San Jose that shares fresh produce with the local community. Veggielution is located at the Emma Prusch Farm Park in the Mayfair neighborhood of San Jose, one of the most impoverished areas in Silicon Valley. Through food-centered programs for all ages, they connect residents to each other and to people and resources from outside their community that will enable them to make a change.
~3:30PM: Wrap up tour and head home!
TRANSPORTATION: Once you purchase your ticket, you will be asked to select a transportation preference. Currently, the options are: A van transfer from/to Paramount Theater in Oakland Carpooling in South Bay Driving separately without carpooling
