Cognitive Dissonance:
A psychological theory, cognitive dissonance, involves two or more conflicting beliefs, thoughts, or behaviors that can lead to discomfort and often cause a change in one of those beliefs in an attempt to create balance. Cognitive Dissonance, the duet, is a surreal approach to this psychological theory demonstrated as a calm argument between conflicting ideas. Performers articulate these concepts through contemporary modern dance and live music.
Choreographed by Jacqueline M. Dugal. After Party:
After Party is a contemporary dance work that opens a window into the lives of two individuals who are struggling to reconcile the personas they present to others with the people they are behind closed doors. Throughout the piece, this unlikely pair finds that quirkiness bonds them, and this bond allows them the freedom they crave.
Choreography by Vanessa Owen and performance by Gavin Stewart and Vanessa Owen of Stewart/Owen Dance.
