Dorothy Meets Alice
"Dorothy Meets Alice or The Wizard of Wonderland" by Joseph Robinette, directed by Kate Wisnioski, produced by Arlington Children's Theater with a cast of 19 children aged 7 through 11.
A young boy named Judson falls asleep while working on a last minute book report. He awakes to find himself in the Tulgey wood, right on the border of Wonderland and Oz. He meets Dorothy and Alice and then some of their friends and decides to help all of them finish their stories (Alice to find the White Rabbit and the rabbit hole to return home, Dorothy and friends to find the Wizard to have their wishes granted). However, the Wicked Witch of the West and the Queen of Hearts both attempt to capture the storybook characters and foil their plans. Meanwhile, the fear of the Jabberwock haunts the forest and threatens to be the ultimate villain. The play has fun and interesting characters and real life lessons buried in its fantastical adventure. Bringing hese two stories together draws parallels between both worlds and illuminates the similarities intrinsic to their tales. Dorothy Meets Alice is comical, creative, and fun. The children participating and those in the audience will enjoy the collision of these iconic characters and the silliness and adventure that results from their meeting.
