The Carlos Odria Ensemble

The Carlos Odria Ensemble is a high-energy acoustic ensemble that performs original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards and Latin American popular music. Consisting of upright bass, drums, percussion, and nylon string guitar, the group delivers an exciting blend of international styles such as bossanova, Afro-Peruvian festejo, rumba flamenca, and Cuban son with an improvisational approach inspired by the rich tradition of American jazz.

The theme for this concert is world jazz explorations. The program will include original compositions written by Carlos Odria, who has drawn inspiration from different Latin American genres. Through these compositions, the group presents a synthesis of each members musical influences in conversation, while emphasizing the power of musical improvisation to establish creative multicultural dialogues.
