Over the River and Through the Woods
The play: Nick is a single Italian-American guy brought up in New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida. Both sets of grandparents still live in Jersey, where he dutifully comes every Sunday for a sumptuous and noisy meal. Then one day Nick tells his grandparents he's been offered a dream job in Seattle that will take him away... far away. His disheartened grandparents despair of the family breaking up and scheme to keep Nick around. This leads the grandparents to bring in the lovely - and single - Caitlin O'Hare to tempt Nick into staying. The play is an Italian-American Neil Simon-ish family comedy; full of funny gags and family warmth.
