Majid Khaliq is a violinist and composer cut from a different cloth. He has been described by legendary musician Wynton Marsalis as having "a unique blend of improvisation, groove and technical sophistication." Although classically trained, Mr. Khaliq's passion and musical palette ranges from the roots of American jazz music to the greats of the Progressive jazz scene. He is quickly establishing himself as a rising talent in the world of jazz. Khaliq has played with great musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, Antonio Hart, John Blake, Itzahk Perlman, Isaac Stern, Mark O'Connor and Regina Carter. He has performed in numerous famed venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, D.C., and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Hailing from The Bay Area to the history and tradition of Harlem, Eric Brown is all about groove. From Rachelle Ferrell, Lalah Hathaway and Sheila E to Broadway musical theatre, Eric is always in the pocket but turns up the heat when it's time to "give the drummer some." Eric is not only a drummer but a singer/songwriter and producer whose music can be found online. An ever rising star, Eric Brown is in high demand in NYC, but he finds time to pass the torch while teaching at the Harlem School of the Arts where so many greats have studied. Eric Brown will release is new album, Still, in Spring 2018.
Yolanda Wyns, Director of the HSA Music Department, appeared on Broadway in The Color Purple. As a vocalist she has worked with renowned artists such as Freddie Jackson, Stephanie Mills, Angie Stone, and Patti Austin.Ms. Wyns is a graduate of LaGuardia high school of Music and Art and an Alumnus of Manhattan School of Music where she studied vocal performance. Her recordings include Many Faces available on iTunes. In addition to her acting roles, recording projects and performances, she works with artists to develop their vocal and performance skills through vocal coaching.
