Daniel Glover - A Tribute to French Composers
Daniel Glover's program is dedicated to the outstanding contributions of French composers to the piano repertoire. He will include several works by Claude Debussy, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the great composer's death. The program will appropriately begin with a harpsichord Suite in E minor by the great Jean-Philippe Rameau. Claude Debussy will be represented by his own three movement Suite Pour Le Piano. The second half of the concert will feature works that focus on musical representations of the wind by Charles-Valentin Alkan, Olivier Messiaen and Debussy. The concluding three works by Debussy and Saint-Saens were inspired by their trips to Italy and Africa. Also, Paul Dukas' The Distant Lament of a Faun written to commemorate Debussy's death including quotes from Debussy's famous Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.
