Abstract Well-to-well communication is usually observed in horizontal wells with multiple closely-spaced hydraulic fractures and is often caused by, and in response to, interactions between the created fractures in the same well, and with fractures in adjacent offset wells. This communication manifests itself through an increase in the pressure of the passive well, sometimes transfer of fracturing fluid and proppant, and often by early or delayed production interference. This presentation discusses how to identify the causes of these interactions, and explores ways of minimizing or eliminating their mechanical, chemical, or physical damage to the wellbore and reservoir.
Bio Ali Daneshy is president of Daneshy Consultants Intl and Adjunct Prof. of Petroleum Engineering at University of Houston. He has 49 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and more than 50 technical papers related to hydraulic fracturing. He is the recipient of SPE Honorary Member, Distinguished Service and Distinguished Member awards. He is also the co-Editor-in-Chief of Hydraulic Fracturing Journal, a quarterly publication dedicated to technology and operations of hydraulic fracturing.
Only 150 tickets will be sold!
