On March 5th, join us and local food system leaders across the state as we discuss the potential for food hubs in South Carolina. Our keynote speaker will be Gary Matteson, Vice President Young, Beginning and Small Farmers Programs. Presenters will be Jim Matson of Matson Consulting in Aiken, SC who is an expert on food hubs in the U.S. and Jim Barham who is a food systems specialist and agriculture economist with the USDA Rural Development
The workshop will focus on:
Food Hub Definition and Functions Business Organization and Business Models Membership Structures Basic Business Operations Farmers and Producers Food Safety Certifications Financial Viability
At the conclusion of the presentations, there will be break out sessions into regional discussion groups.
