Resilient Gardening In Western Washington
WSU Whatcom County Extension is excited to bring local and regional garden educators, WSU researchers, and entomologists together to share knowledge and inspire us to garden wisely in a changing environment. This daylong conference focuses on food gardening, sustainability, community connections, native pollinators and habitat, gardening in small spaces, and more topics of resilience. Join us for informative sessions, a community garden panel of experts, and more!
Keynote by Gail Langellotto, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Horticulture at Oregon State University: "How Gardening Will Save the World" will consider urban gardens and the habitats they provide.
Gail is an entomologist by training and is the principal investigator of the Garden Ecology Lab at OSU. The 12 sessions offered include topics such as: Intro to Permaculture Gardening for Pollinators Soil Health Composting Season Extension for Vegetable Crops Community Garden Expert Panel Storage Crops Biodegradable Mulches
$40.00 Registration includes all materials, light breakfast, beverages throughout the day. This is a Toward Zero Waste Event. Please bring your own mug. Lunch is additional $14.00, or bring your own brown bag. Cafe on BTC campus is also an option.
