A poetry slam is a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience. This poetry slam is organized by Jacob Winterstein, Kai Davis and Jasmine Combs.

**Poets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. For this month all poets who put their name in the hat pay $10. At 9:00pm poets names will be picked out of the hat. Preference will be given to women and non-binary folk who have slammed this season.**

JEANANN VERLEE
Jeanann Verlee is a 2017 NEA Poetry Fellow and the author of three books of poetry: prey, (Black Lawrence, 2018), first runner-up for the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award; Said the Manic to the Muse (Write Bloody, 2015); and Racing Hummingbirds (Write Bloody, 2010), silver medal winner in the Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is a recipient of the Third Coast Poetry Prize and the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry, and her work appears in Adroit, BOAAT, Muzzle, and BuzzFeed, among others. Verlee has served as poetry editor for various publications, including Union Station Magazine and Winter Tangerine Review, and has edited a number of individual collections. For seven years, she was director of the Urbana Poetry Slam at Bowery Poetry Club in New York City. Verlee collects tattoos and kisses Rottweilers. She believes in you. Find her at jeanannverlee.com.
