Industry Trends - What is Needed to Succeed in Today's Economy
The economic climate has forced changes upon many design firms. The majority of firms have made adjustments to operating and overhead costs to remain in business. Many changes made by firms now inadvertently impacts project performance, client satisfaction that in return increases overall risk. This session will identify construction trends, growth areas, categories and practices increasing risk, but most importantly, identify the strategies used for developing a successful business strategy moving forward.
Timothy (Tim) Corbett is founder and President of SmartRisk LLC with over 25 years of experience developing and implementing insurance and risk management programs for design professionals. Tim has worked with numerous firms including Bechtel and EG&G (part of URS) and has held VP positions with leading insurance carriers with responsibilities for underwriting, risk management and claims analysis. He is a member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Council Engineering Companies (ACEC), and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and sits on national risk management, environmental and business practice committees. Tim is called upon as a speaker at regional and national forums, has been published on the topics and owns copyrights to risk management practices and strategies. Mr. Corbett holds a BS in Security and Risk Management, MS in Management, Environmental studies degree, Architectural Design Technology Certificate and is LEED accredited.
