Grease at University High School
Time to travel back in time to Rydell High in the 1950s in "Grease," produced for only the third time at University High School in Los Angeles.
There's a special tie between "Grease" and Uni as the famous 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John was filmed in Los Angeles and Uni's Director of Theatre Arts - Ronnie Sperling - played Eugene the Nerd as part of a national touring company for "Grease" in the 1980s!
It's also the 25-year anniversary of the first time "Grease" was produced at Uni, way back in 1993!
You know the story: teens Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson fall in love over the summer, but when Sandy shows up unexpectedly at Rydell, can Danny overcome his super-cool persona and friends to make their romance work again?
The school version of "Grease" is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. and is produced with support from UCLA's Beyond the Bell program and the Uni Hi Education Foundation. The book, music and lyrics are by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
Just four performances, on April 18-19-20--21, so get your bobby sox on and get ready to head to Uni's Stivelman Theater for "Grease"!
