HPR's Mardi Gras Valentine Blues Revue
Mardi Gras is the perfect occasion to celebrate the music of New Orleans, where African, Caribbean, and European influences combine to create musical styles that could only have come from the Crescent City. Whether it's jazz, blues, R&B, or rock 'n' roll, the music that comes out of New Orleans is uniquely funky and danceable, and Chris Vandercook and his band will be bringing their favorite Mardi Gras music to the Venue for a lively evening's entertainment. Chris is a singer and guitarist with a long background in blues, jazz, and R&B who will augment his band with a horn section for the occasion
"All of us in the band are looking forward to this show," Vandercook says. "For us, it's a special challenge. New Orleans music has a rhythmic feel all its own a groove that has its origins in the "second line" of singers and dancers that brought up the rear in neighborhood funeral procession and it will be our pleasure to bring it to the stage." Chris will be joined by drummer Chuck James, bassist Ernie Provencher, pianist Pat Rawson, and Paul Stanley's Powerhouse Horns, in a performance space that boasts excellent sound and lighting, for what promises to be a raucous and infectious show.
