Event
CULTURE featuring Kenyatta Hill ...
It was in April of 2006 that Culture made what would be its last Asheville area stop with frontman, Joseph Hill. One Vibe Reggae is honored to have been the presenter of that magical show. Stella Blue was the venue where it took place. Joseph Hills wife was present that evening, as she was Cultures tour manager. Josephs son, Kenyatta Hill, was also present, as he was Cultures sound engineer at the time. That evening, Culture did what they had done for 33 years they performed an energetic, spiritually uplifting 2-hour set for a packed venue. Several months later, Joseph Hill unexpectedly passed away while on tour with Culture across the ocean. At the time of his passing, 19 shows remained on that Culture tour. In an effort to honor both his fathers commitments and his memory, Kenyatta took up the microphone, filling in for his late father. Culture featuring Kenyatta Hill finished off that tour which started off as a Culture featuring Joseph Hill tour. One Vibe Reggae, Innernational Music, and Stella Blue is honored to once again welcome Culture to the Asheville area on Sunday, April 13th. This time, Kenyatta Hill will not be behind the soundboard, but up on stage honoring his fathers work, singing the music of Culture while performing some of the music he has written since becoming the Cultures frontman. The doors will open promptly at 8pm with Deep Roots Sound spinning. Crystal Kind will take the stage promptly at 9pm! Advance tickets are available at Harvest Records in West Asheville for $10. Tickets at the door will be $14.
