Join us for a special movie night to help raise funds for The Side Yard Farm's new project, 'Community Supported Kitchen'. This is our last effort to raise $50K for our new project by Dec. 22nd. We will be showing the 80's classic, Christmas Vacation at Miss Zumsteins Bakery on December 15th at 730pm. This is a small and intimate gathering with seating up to 40. Come sit by the fireplace and sip on some bevies and eat some yummy treats. Besides your ticket benefitting the CSK project, it also gets you your choice of local beer by Double Mountain Brewery and wine by Jackalope Wine Cellars. Hungry?! You will also receive dessert from Miss Zumsteins and a selection of hot sandos and soup by The Side Yard Farm. If you are still feeling snacky, there will be other items available: Farmy popcorn and thick slices of Ruchikala's habanero cheddar bread and her polenta mustard curry leaf bread served with lemon achaar butter.
ABOUT OUR PROJECT-COMMUNITY SUPPORTED KITCHEN
Think of a CSK the same way you think of a CSA: A local food system that deeply connects producers and consumers. Our CSK is dedicated to culinary entrepreneurs that seek to improve the transparency of food from 'seed to plate', and consumers who believe in supporting local food cultivation and production.
The kitchen plays an instrumental role in our process, filling the space in between what happens on the farm to what you see on your plate or in the market. We have been searching for a suitable kitchen for more than 5 years to allow growth in a shared space with other like-minded culinary entrepreneurs and to create space for low income families with food businesses. When we heard that a spot was opening up right down the street from the farm, we grew excited about the possibility of building deeper connections through education and visibility of hyperlocal farming and sourcing. The CSK will exist to provide other local businesses with a holistic model that prioritizes the flow of local produce from the farm to the kitchen to the consumer.
So the journey begins! We are turning to you, our community, to infuse $50,000 into the project, allowing us to make this a reality! Please considering donating to our project and please spread the word!
A BIG thank you to our sponsors: Miss Zumsteins Cakes & Desserts, Double Mountain Brewery, Jackalope Wine Cellars, Ruchikala, Union Yeast and Grain and my awesome staff!
