My Boy Elroy is the Chicago-based DJ, Beat-Boxer and Musician of the world famous, pioneering Acid Jazz group, and Grammy-nominated live act, Liquid Soul. But as anyone on the scene already knows, thats just one facet of this creative jewel. My Boy Elroy is also an in-demand solo DJ with residencies that have spanned the globe from Chicago to Hawaii, and since 2005 My Boy Elroy has been the Music Director, Creative Director, and DJ for Chicagos wholly unique gravity-defying Midnight Circus. With Elroy at the top of the big top (literally!), Midnight Circus became the first American circus troupe to be welcomed to perform their show at the world-renowned MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CIRQUE in 2014.
In 2013, My Boy Elroy served as the producer and DJ of Digital Tape Machines first album, entitled Be Here Now, as well as their four-track EP Omens in 2014. Digital Tape Machine featured Joel Cummins and Kris Myers of Umphreys McGee. My Boy Elroy continues to perform with Kris Myers as producer and DJ of Johnny Derp.
As a solo DJ, his passionate dedication to his craft along with his unique presentation led him to open for a sold out show at the Riviera for the seminal trip-hop act, Massive Attack. Hes shared the bill with legendary artists such as B.B. King and Stevie Wonder, pioneers of electronic music such as FKJ, Bonobo, Beardyman, Paul Johnson, Claude Von Stroke, Kerri Chandler, Marques Wyatt, Mark Farina, and has performed at numerous festivals including North Coast, Electric Forest, Taste of Randolph, Aura Music Festival, Mamby On the Beach, and many more! My Boy Elroys style is a combination of buttery and emotional mixes and productions of Deep and Funky House, Nu Disco, Tech House, and Instrumental Hip-Hop with beat box and scratching spicing it all up to bring you a completely original sound comprised of both DJing and musical performance.
Did we mention original productions? My Boy Elroy has been creating a vast catalog of eclectic mixes since the age of 13. He has produced original music with releases on Apulia Records, Bulletdodge, Slur, Elevate Tracks, JQM Records, Sea of Sand, and Friction Free.
