The End of the Light Age
Featuring Lou Castel.
In an eerily retro, blindingly bright future a woman named Veronique and an unnamed inventor (the art house legend Lout Castel) experiment with integrating darkness into light.
NYUFF alum James June Schneider explains, "They are aiming to counter the tide of a bright, destructive, and technologically oriented time as lyrically represented in the film by man-made light."
Weaving through a meticulously designed (both visually and aurally) world, Veronique attempts put their experimentation into practice while under constant surveillance. Schneider creates a unique tone, Interspersing the narrative with vignettes, abstractions, and archival footage.
"The film betrays a maker with an unusual background. 1, 2, 3, Whiteout plays an original game with how we think about science and future and refers with equally playful ease to portrayals of the future old and new." - International Film Festival Rotterdam James June Schneider will be present at the screening.
