The Existential Variety Hour
In one hour you can experience surreal puppetry, clown and magic, celebrate life with wonderful strangers, and discover the meaning of existence. There are also free cookies. Performed by the licensed metaphysicians of Doppelskope - with special guest musician Matt Singer in February!
What if the Muppets were created by Andy Kaufman instead of Jim Henson? It might look something like Doppelskope. This post-modern vaudeville will hold your hand as you watch and maybe even bat its eyelids at you.
Every month is a wild experiment in combining puppetry, magic, clown, music, improv and circus into interactive and absurd new forms - with a featured guest performer each month! Like a trip down memory lane for someone with amnesia.
After you leave The Existential Variety Hour your perspective and/or marital status will never be the same again. There's a roomful of strangers waiting to become your best friends at the Tank! More information at: http://www.doppelskope.com
About the artists: Doppelskope is Christopher Scheer and Ora Fruchter. Chris and Ora met in a clown class. After that they got serious and wrote a show about existentialism that doesn't mention existentialism (AN EXISTENTIAL SING-ALONG). Then they made another show where they improvise with puppets for 45 minutes straight and keep exploring everyone's feelings (SHRINK: PUPPET THERAPY). THE EXISTENTIAL VARIETY HOUR is their newest and most exciting project to date.
