Rock the Lights: Dark days and winter blues got you down? Holiday party after holiday party, pleasantries and tame festivities abound. What you need is the exact opposite of all that - an infusion of light and some rock and roll to jolt your spirit out of hibernation.
There is a brand, spanking new light system newly installed here at the church. We are so excited about it that we're putting on a night of rock and roll with a brain sizzling light show. Rock the Lights is a an excuse to get freaky with lights with costumes- grab your friends and make an evening of it. Show up in a costume inspired by light- electric or otherwise and you could be the proud winner of a golden ticket. This Golden Ticket will be presented by the owner himself the night of the show and will grant you free access to one show of your choice at The Stone Church!! $2 PBR's and a $5 admission means it doesn't have to break the bank.
The Bands:
The Coprolites - High energy American rock with a punk ethos! The Coprolites are proof god exists. An amalgam of the keen bits of three decades span of punk rock(70's, 80's, 90's) while cleverly infiltrating it with hints of punk's own outer, more chordal and melodic, tendrils. There is a pop sensibility among them as well with songs averaging about 3 minutes.
Old Man Joe - Psychedelic Rock Old Man Joe is composed of three members- Jason Scaggs, Marcel Leclerc and Elliot New. The latter two were integrals parts of the band Flabberghaster, another Brattleboro, VT favorite. Jason Scaggs has been heavily involved in the Southern Vermont music scene for the better part of ten years-Jatoba, Phil and the Fuzz, as well as many solo projects including his current Indie Folk duo, The Big Empty.. If you've seen live music in the southern VT area, chances are you've caught one of these guys onstage. A harmonious triad of guitar, drums and bass, this group is bringing a unique sound most strongly reminiscent of Black Sabbath meets Radiohead. Several flavors swirling through their electric live performances include hints of STP, My Morning Jacket. Playing together since the winter of 2015, these musicians have a smoothness or chemistry you'd expect from a far more seasoned group. In the spring of 2014, Elliott New (of Flabbergaster fame) joined the group on electric bass. This added dynamic has turned OMJ into a power house trio and reckoning musical force. Old Man Joe is a high-octane psychedelic rock n' roll explosion hailing from the vibrant green of Southern VT. https://www.facebook.com/OldManJoeBand/
The Eben Viens Band - Power Pop Rock Eben Viens lives in Brattleboro, Vermont, and plays music with a rotating cast of musical characters. In his early years, Eben could be found busking with the Dusty Neutrals. Nowadays, he works and writes songs in his spare time. Expect power pop and folk rock with sloppy nods to Westerberg, Partridge, McLennan and more. Eben will be joined by Riley Goodemote, Zack James and other willing participants. https://www.facebook.com/DustyNeutrals/
