MCGARRY, GANZ, VERSACE TRIO

THE SUBJECT TONIGHT IS LOVE is the debut trio album of critically acclaimed musicians and longtime friends Kate McGarry, Keith Ganz, and Gary Versace.
For their early Valentines CD release celebration, the trio reimagines beloved standards, sets music to the words of 14th century Sufi poet Hafiz, and mines the depths of McGarrys soul-stirring originals. The result is a fresh, cinematic approach to jazz that invites listeners into the music through unexpected doorways.
The formidable talents of these GrammyTM nominated musicians are in full bloom on this ambitious outing. Ganz shines on nylon, steel, electric and bass guitars while Versace moves masterfully between piano, electric keyboard, organ and accordion. Together they create a richly nuanced sonic canvas. McGarrys voice rings true throughout, painting pictures that penetrate and illumine the human journey.
As an educator she has taught at New England Conservatory and currently serves on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music. Downbeat Magazine cited McGarry as 'Rising Star' vocalist for the past 9 years. In July of 2016 DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE 64th Critics Poll named McGarry the #1 Rising Star Female Vocalist.
