Cole Norton Figure Workshop
This workshop will cover a step by step process for constructing a figure and composition from a nude model, as well as methods to construct figures and compositions from your imagination.
The Basic Figure Drawing class will focus on drawing fundamentals from a live model in a relaxed atmosphere.
In the Advanced Figure Drawing class, we will practice methods of memorizing the form and anatomy from the model in order to create figures from our imagination, as well as cover compositional theory so that we may improve our ability to craft interesting and engaging images.
Cole has previously taught figure drawing and advanced figure drawing at MIAD, and has frequently shown work at Var Gallery. He currently lives in Japan where he was recently awarded the Former Prime Minister Award for figurative works depicting the Maiko (Geisha apprentices) of Kyoto. He also recently held a solo show focusing around large inkwash figurative works at Gyokusenji Zen temple in Tokyo.
A basic and advanced lesson will be offered both days of the workshop.
