Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait
Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Robert Morris University will narrate Copland's stirring tribute to our 16th President performed by Duquesne University's Wind Symphony. Composed in 1942, Copland's haunting orchestral score incorporates some of Lincoln's most stirring oratory spoken over the music.
This year marks the ACFL&MH's fourth annual Presidents Day concert featuring Aaron Copland's beloved symphonic work. Please join us in celebrating Presidents Day with a concert in our acoustically superb Music Hall and extended access to our rare Civil War room, The Captain Thomas Espy Post of the Grand Army of the Republic and Lincoln Gallery featuring a rare collection of 100 photographs of Abraham Lincoln.
A dessert reception in the Lincoln Gallery follows the performance. The Lincoln Gallery and Espy Post with be open on Presidents Day from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm and during the reception.
Advance Sales end February 18, 7:00am.
