Toledo: The Prohibition Chronicles
This 60-minute documentary is about the true story of gangsters and bootleggers who dominated Toledo, Ohio, during Prohibition. It will focus on Jack Kennedy, a Toledo bootlegger, who was shot down on a quiet, residential street by a ruthless gang from Detroit. Led by Yonnie Licavoli, the gang was determined to take over the city's illegal booze and eliminate anyone who stood in their way. Considered a local hero, Kennedy was the only one brave enough to stand up against the Licavoli Gang and eventually began the process that helped free Toledo from the gang's clutches. Divided into chapters, the documentary will also cover the Purple Gang, the Great Depression in Toledo and, most importantly, family stories passed down through local, Toledo families-- including a special story shared by Jamie Farr.
Snacks and specialty-themed cocktails will be available.
