Saturday Night Swing Dance with Out of the Blue Band!
Come swing to the lively, upbeat classics of local dance band Out of the Blue! Popular swing dance instructors Mark and Elizabeth Weiss of Raymond's Bakery will start the evening with a lesson to loosen up your twinkle toes! Lesson starts at 7 pm.
Created from a talented mixture of West Sonoma county musicians, Out of the Blue plays a mix of jazz and swing music with an old time feel, featuring tunes from the early 1900's to the present. Mark Larson, vocalist and guitar/Trumpet player, leads the group. Mark has over 30 years experience in music, with his roots in rock and roll, blues, bluegrass and jazz. Other band members include: On the violin, Terry Ann Gillette provides outstanding solos with the flair of an old time fiddler. Curtis Duff brings heart-wrenching sounds to the mix on the pedal steel guitar and zippy traditional solos on the Dobro. Carol Shumate's interpretive bass and Tom Belton's Dixieland/Trad Jazz fusion on the drums provide the rhythm section.
Influenced by artists such as Louis Armstrong - Louis Jordan Louis Prima - Bob Wills - Hank Williams Jellyroll Morton - Dan Hicks - Duke Ellington - Cab Calloway and Old Cartoons, Out of the Blue puts on an entertaining performance that will infect audiences with symptoms such as Happiness, the Feeling of Yesteryear, and the desire so sing out.
