Red Ranger Came Calling
Vashon Island's Drama Dock presents this warm-hearted musical adaptation of Berkeley Breathed's popular holiday tale. Breathed, of "Bloom County" and "Opus" fame, lived on Vashon Island for nearly a decade. His wondrous illustrated book is inspired by his father's depression-era childhood and his obsession with his radio and movie hero, Buck Tweed, Red Ranger from Mars. Breathed's supreme gift of outrageous, glowing imagery lights up his funny, provocative characters and text. Brought to life by music and movement, the show features an all-ages cast of expressive Islanders. The original musical adaptation is the work of Myra Platt, Edd Key and Seattle's Book-It Repertory Theatre.
