The annual 10-minute play festival is one of the most anticipated and popular events of the theatre season in Santa Cruz! Sixteen awarded-winning short plays, from our annual international playwriting contest, are performed and directed by some of the best the Santa Cruz theatre community has to offer. The Festival presents eight plays each night, running in repertoire.

In the comic drama, The Realistic Joneses, we meet Bob and Jennifer and their new neighbors, John and Pony - two suburban couples who have even more in common than their identical homes, and their shared last names. As their relationships begin to irrevocably intertwine, the Joneses must decide between their idyllic fantasies and their imperfect realities.

A moving and compelling account of Mark Rothko, the abstract impressionist painter considered one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Rothko battles with his demons in this electrifying play of ideas. Red premiered in London, then moved to Broadway, winning the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Olivier awards for best play, as well as six Tony Awards - the most of any play.
