Lori Mechem & Ritmos Picantes: Brazilian Christmas
A performance by Lori Mechem and Ritmos Picantes is always a special occasion. This group of master jazz musicians has been together for over 20 years, performing and recording Brazilian jazz standards and original compositions. Their deep understanding and love of Brazilian styles makes every performance a delight.
On Friday, December 1, the group will take the stage in the Jazz Cave for what has been a traditional pre-holiday appearance led by pianist and Nashville Jazz Workshop co-founder Lori Mechem. The theme for this appearance is, appropriately enough, "Brazilian Christmas," the title of the band's 2005 Green Hill Music recording. The program will include selections from this recording along with other Brazilian classics.
Joining Lori onstage will be Roger Spencer (bass), Chris Brown (drums), Denis Solee (sax), Dann Sherrill (percussion), and Mark Christian (guitar).
There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Admission is $25 / $15 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday November 20 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases.
Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited. Ticket sales are final.
