Pacific Voices Winter Concert 2017 - The Light Of Song
Open your heart to music of peace, joy and hope with The Light Of Song, a seasonal concert by the Pacific Voices choir under the direction of acclaimed conductor Dr. Sean Boulware. Known for performances that underscore our shared human experience, the 70-member group will present a diverse program ranging from traditional carols (with a twist), works by contemporary composers, spirituals, and folk songs from Africa and Israel.
Beautiful poetry and harmonic dissonance alike highlight elements of light and dark, sound and silence, movement and stillness.
La Rose Completè and Dirait-on by distinguished composer Morten Lauridsen translates poems by Rainer Maria Rilke into musical works of elemental friendship. Traditional Spiritual, Lord If I Got My Ticket, gets you moving. A Chanukah medley sings to the importance of faith, community and perseverance. Cantique De Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré expresses the hope of peace.
