Winter: Wellness
Join us for a lesson and discussion about the various ways we can use Asian foods and herbs to warm and sustain us thru the bitter cold of winter. Learn the history and traditions that accompany each recipe, its practical and traditional uses and its value to the Asian identity. We will discuss ways you can integrate these practices into your lifestyle while sharing and breaking bread in a community setting. Warming foods consumed during winter months is a common winter practice throughout the world, and Asian traditions offer a refreshing insight into other ways of sustaining and warming the body throughout the winter season.
We will take a tour to two stores, to get two know the neighborhood, Vinh Hoa and Viet Hoa, to purchase and access herbs, vegetables and other foods to use for winter preparedness. One hour
Walk back to Axis Lab where we will cook, eat, and talk about the how to use and incorporate what we just bought, we will be making three things: Variations of congee, Ginseng chicken, steamed pears and herbal teas. Come hungry and be prepared to take notes. One to two hours.
